Water Damage in Arlington Kitchen Gets Rapid Cleanup

A residential kitchen is one of the most common areas in a Arlington home that receives water damage. This is in part due to the number of appliances that tap into the supply lines as well as the plumbing to sinks, installed pasta arms, and more.

A homeowner in Arlington with water damage needed help with the cleanup in his kitchen. He got up and found water standing on the floor. He was not sure where the water emanated from and turned off the water to the home to halt any further loss from occurring.

Getting your house back to normal is a priority after a water loss of any size. The certified techs have extensive training in the restoration sciences. They know how to handle not only the results of this type of damage but also secondary issues that may arise, such as mold or foul odors.

First Actions

SERVPRO technicians arrived at the home and immediately began extraction efforts to remove the water. The toe kick under the cabinet needed removal so the extractor wands could reach underneath. Afterward, they scoped the floor to determine if any seepage occurred. The ceramic tile floor had sealant on the grout lines, and the moisture detection equipment did not show any moisture within the subfloor.

Finding All Areas of Water Loss

Pinpointing the place a leak started is paramount to getting it repaired. The techs moved the refrigerator and dishwasher as they were side-by-side, and both had a supply line connection. The culprit was the fridge, and the techs disconnected the frayed line and found the sheetrock behind the appliance needed removal as it had deteriorated due to long-term leakage. The techs found no other damages and moved on to the drying phase of mitigation.

Drying and Repairs

Once the kitchen confirmed in readings as dry, the techs provided the homeowner with a list of actions taken during mitigation as well as the necessary repairs to the sheetrock after the plumber hired by the property owner installed a new supply line to the fridge.

SERVPRO of Arlington / Jacksonville East at (904) 721-2230 has the certified techs and equipment to turn around properties with water damage and make the loss, "Like it never even happened."
